African musicians over the years have produced some of the best sounds that the world has ever heard. From Akon to Sarkodie, Africans are gradually rubbing shoulders with the elite in world music. The unique sounds and infectious rhythm will keep you dancing wherever you hear them. Video producers bring these songs to life by creating quality concepts to complement the music. Today I have hand picked 10 of the best music videos I have come across based on the quality and concept.

10. 2Face -African Queen:

This song is old but definitely gold! Innocent Ujah Idibia, better known by his stage name 2face Idibia and now 2Baba produced this hit record in May 2004. This beautiful song is a celebration of his love for African women and it takes my number ten spot.

9. M.anifest – W’ani Aba:

M.anifest takes the ninth spot with this tune. This video was shot in Jamestown and Adenta. I love the originality in the video and the genuine happiness on the faces of the video cast and of course the costumes are dope!  “If you see me smiling, w’ani aba wohu me aa na w’ani aba!!!”

8. Tiwa Savage – Standing Ovation:

RocNation and Mavin Records artiste Tiwatope Savage-Balogun popularly known as Tiwa Savage is next up on my list with this song which features Olamide. Her originality and creativity in this video clearly reflects her talents and that has landed her a deal with Jay Z’s RocNation and oh, she dey boogie!!

7. Sarkodie – Adonai:

Sarkodie takes us to church with this beautiful song which features the man with the silky smooth voice Castro. He is basically telling us to be each other’s keepers and not envy anyone in this video and I love it. Shot by Nana Asihene.

6. Flavour – Ada Ada:

This song needs no introduction. There can never be a wedding without this song. Why? It is such a lovely song and the visuals are made for that special ceremony especially extravagant Nigerian weddings.

5.  Davido- Aye:

Imagine rich kid Davido working in a plantation farm!! This video is great because we see a different side of Davido from the normal pop champagne and turn up we are used to. The video is exceptional with clear visuals and concept.

4. Diamond Platnumz – Ntampata Wapi:

I never heard of this guy but i was moved to watch his video that has over thirteen million views on youtube and i must say I was impressed. All the way from Tanzania Diamond Platnumz takes the number four spot with this video. Beautiful concept and visuals and I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

3. P-Square – Personally:

This video has over 70 million views on Youtube so you can agree with me that it is a great video. The brothers are known for their smooth vocals as well as their jaw-dropping dance moves. They pay tribute to pop legend Michael Jackson on this video and it is nothing short of greatness.

2. Wizkid  – Ojuelegba:

Wizkid is number two on my list and the video is Ojuelegba.  This song was inspired by his experiences and sojourn in and around this part of Lagos, Nigeria. It is known for its crowded setting and is regarded as one of the busiest places in Lagos. Yes Starboy we know your story!

1. AKA – The World Is Yours:

AKA takes the top spot in my count down with this video. This video stands out for two simple reasons. AKA gives us good music accompanied with a tour of some breathtaking tourist destinations and is seen enjoying the culture of the people and interacting with the locals. It also sends a strong message, that is: The world is yours! Just like him in the video, you can go anywhere and do anything and there should be no reason to limit yourself. Take charge and enjoy life because the WORLD IS YOURS!!!

And my pick for the honourable mention is;

Falz – Soldier:

FalzTheBahdGuy is my pick for honourable mention. His song, soldier talks about the struggle guys go through in the quest to find love and the visuals tell a perfect story with Simi pushing him away as he professes his love for her.
